Coverage

What an Allstate home policy covers — and what to add

Every policy starts with the same six parts. The rest is built around your house, your neighborhood, and what you'd hate to lose.

The standard policy

Six coverages every Allstate homeowners policy includes

Dwelling

The structure itself — roof, walls, foundation, built-in appliances. Set to replacement cost, not market value.

Other Structures

Detached garages, fences, sheds — common on Cleveland lots and usually 10% of the dwelling limit.

Personal Property

Furniture, electronics, clothing — what's inside. We'll talk through replacement-cost vs. actual-cash-value.

Loss of Use

Hotel and living costs if a covered loss forces you out while repairs happen.

Personal Liability

If someone is hurt on your property or you damage someone else's, this pays legal and settlement costs.

Medical Payments

Smaller medical bills for guests injured at your home, paid without a liability claim.

Beyond the standard policy

Our Coverage Options

01

Flood Insurance

Standard homeowners policies exclude flooding. Along the Cuyahoga, Rocky River, and the lakefront, basement backups and rising water are a when, not an if. Flood coverage is written separately and we quote it alongside your home policy.

  • Structure and contents from surface flooding
  • Water and sewer backup endorsement for basements
  • Required by lenders in FEMA high-risk zones
  • 30-day waiting period — don't wait for the forecast

02

Earthquake Insurance

Northeast Ohio sits near the Lake Erie seismic zone; Lake County has recorded quakes over magnitude 4. Earthquake damage is excluded from a base policy. The endorsement is inexpensive for masonry-heavy older homes.

  • Dwelling and other structures from ground shaking
  • Personal property inside the home
  • Separate percentage deductible, chosen with you

03

High-Value Home

Shaker Heights colonials, Bratenahl lakefront, Hunting Valley estates: a standard form under-insures custom millwork, slate roofs and fine art. We write higher dwelling limits and scheduled personal property so a loss is paid in full.

  • Extended or guaranteed replacement cost
  • Scheduled jewelry, art, instruments and collections
  • Higher liability limits and umbrella options

04

Rental Property

Cleveland doubles and up-and-downs are landlord territory. A homeowners policy won't cover a tenant-occupied unit; a landlord (dwelling fire) policy will, including lost rent after a covered loss.

  • Duplex, triplex and single-family rentals
  • Fair rental value while the unit is unlivable
  • Landlord liability and owner-occupied duplex options
  • Vacant-property coverage between tenants
